My Role

I am the Educational Learning Technology Coordinator for my School Division.  I have the privilege of assisting staff with all their educational learning technology needs. Currently I work with staff from the following schools: Eleanor Hall School,  RFS School, Westlock Elementary School, Busby School, Dunstable School, Barrhead Elementary School, Barrhead Composite School, Dapp School, W.R. Frose School, Jarvie School, Fort Assiniboine School, Neerlandia Public Christian School and Swan Hills School.  Some areas of assistance include all SMART product training (smart boards, smart response systems and document cameras), videoconferencing, website training, web 2.0 tools (dreambox, storybird) tablets (ipads), wireless slates, google docs, blogs, wikis, videoconferencing, teamteaching and of course eportfolios.

Areas of Focus

1. School Training Sessions: Plan and organize training sessions with all the schools
in our district (minimum 4 all-day sessions per school). Training will include but not be
limited to the following.
a. Smart Products: Boards, Airliners, Document Cameras, Smart Response
Systems
b. School Websites
c. Videoconferencing
d. Any other requested web 2.0 tools or software training (Learn Alberta,
moodle, Google docs etc)

2. Videoconference Sessions: Plan and organize a videoconference session for each
school. Training will include but not be limited to the following.a. Training: Setup and use of the videoconferencing equipment
b. Searching and booking programs with various content providers that meet the
curriculum being covered.
c. Connect with classrooms within our district

3. VC Santa: Plan and organize the yearly VC Santa session with colleagues in the
district.
a. Coordinate with VCRLN and provide this presentation outside our district
b. Provide teacher packages that include Christmas resources and fun

4. Lego Robotics/Tech Challenge Program: Purchase, register and setup schools
with first lego league (FLL) and provide lead teacher/student support. The schools
involved in this program: Eleanor Hall, Dunstable, WES, Dapp, W.R. Frose, FAS, Swan
Hills, BES, Neerlandia, Jarvie and BCHS.
a. Attend regular lego robotics classes to assist and answer questions
b. Register teams to compete in the provincial tournament at Nait
c. Provide support in order to expand the program
d. Attend training (robotics course) at U of A

5. One-to-One Laptop Initiative: Assist Busby School’s Lead Teacher with this
project
a. Provide smart notebook lesson templates
b. Provide resource contact information
c. Provide any other requested support

6. District PD Sessions: Conduct in-service at District PD days.
a. Provide resources and demonstrate emerging technologies

7. Parent Council Meeting Presentations: Present at Parent Council Meetings.
a. Provide resources and demonstrate emerging technologies as
requested by administrators.

8. SMART Board Instructional Lesson Materials and other resourcesa. Find/research companies that create SMART Board-ready instructional

materials that follow Alberta Education’s program of studies
