Motorola Xoom
The Motorola Xoom comes with a 10.1″ capacitive screen with Gorilla Glass, placing it at the larger and of the tablet market and similar in size to the Apple iPad and HP Slate. This features a very high resolution of 1280 x 800 with 24 bit colour depth all powered by a speedy Tegra 2 dual core processor and 1GB DDR2 RAM. The Xoom features a number of sensors including an accelerometer, gyro sensor, electronic compass and barometer.
The main rear facing camera is 5 megapixels and comes with 720p HD video recording support. Thanks to an HDMI port you can play videos contained on the Xoom through an external TV or monitor. There is also a 3.5mm headphone socket as well as USB ports available. A secondary front facing camera is also included with 2 megapixels which is higher quality than the standard you would currently expect for a camera of this nature. This can be used for making video calls over 3G or Wi-Fi connections.
The Motorola Xoom comes with 32GB of internal storage space and also supports a further 32GB with microSD cards. Adobe Flash is installed out of the box and the Xoom is excellent for streaming online video or music content, as well as playing content directly from the device. Although 4G networks are not currently available in the UK (until perhaps 2012) the Xoom is fully upgradeable to make it 4G compliant.
